CTM Biomedical Pilot Research Grant

CTM Biomedical is pleased to announce the CTM Biomedical Pilot Research Grant, to be awarded during the 3rd Mediterranean Conference of Plastic Surgery Innovations, taking place September 5–7, 2026, in Crete, Greece.

This grant is designed to support innovative research in plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a particular focus on projects that advance reconstructive surgery through the use of connective tissue or placental/connective tissue.

The goal of the CTM Biomedical Research Grant is to encourage bold ideas and support investigators who are pushing the boundaries of next-generation surgical care and biomedical innovation.

Eligibility

Applications are welcomed from:

  • Medical students
  • Residents and fellows
  • Early-career surgeons and researchers
  • Biomedical scientists working in areas related to plastic surgery and reconstructive innovation

Collaborative proposals involving engineering, data science, or biotechnology are strongly encouraged.

Research Areas of Interest

Proposals may include, but are not limited to:

  • Innovations in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery
  • Microsurgery and tissue reconstruction
  • Regenerative medicine and biomaterials
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning in surgical care
  • Advanced imaging and surgical planning
  • Surgical robotics and digital surgery
  • Outcomes research and precision surgery

Application Requirements

Applicants should submit:

  • research proposal (maximum 2 pages)
  • Statement of significance and innovation
  • Applicant CV
  • Any supporting figures or preliminary data (optional)

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a scientific committee of international leaders in plastic surgery and biomedical innovation. Proposals will be evaluated based on:

  • Innovation and originality
  • Scientific merit
  • Potential clinical impact
  • Feasibility

The selected recipient will be recognized during the 3rd Mediterranean Conference of Plastic Surgery Innovations in Crete and may be invited to present their research concept during the meeting.
